Our Tip: If you’re mostly planning to burn wood, a dedicated wood burner often provides a cleaner output and has fewer parts to maintain. Go for a multi-fuel stove if you want that year-round flexibility with fuel choices.

2. Sizing Up Your Stove: What kW Do You Need?

Stoves are rated by their heat output in kilowatts (kW), and getting the size right is crucial. A stove that’s too small won’t heat your room effectively, while one that’s too large can overheat the space, waste fuel, and be tricky to control.

Quick Estimate Formula: To get a rough idea, use this simple calculation:

Room Volume (length × width × height in metres) ÷ 14 = Approximate kW Output
